What About Fasting?

Okay, so I decided to check out Tim Phizackerley's Fasting track.  Not that I needed to lose weight, so much as I wanted to see if I could change the way I consume food and what it could do for the constant cravings I was having with a new "sit down" job. 


So instead of just ordering the "End your food cravings" I decided to get the fasting program to see what it would do.  I got it on the 22nd of January, and though he says to listen to the track for several days to prepare yourself, I figured, since I've been using the click tracks for several years I would have no problem fasting the next day.

The goal of the program is to reduce the number of calories you take in every 3rd day, down to 500 (for women, 600 for men), so your body can develop a new routine.  I used the program that night and started my fast the next day.  Initially I started by getting a calorie counter, little snacks, and a plan, which I paid close attention to all day.  I made it through but I felt hungry all day and had a slight headache.  Still I'd made it and didn't have to think about it for the next 2 days. 

The problem I found was that by focusing so intensely on my calories, my snacks, and my plan, all I could think about all day was...not eating or nibbling or eating.  So the next time I used the positive click tracks, and wrote the suggestion that "each time would be easier for me and I loved it".  This seemed to work pretty well and by the 3 or 4th fast day I really wasn't obsessing about the exact number of calories I was eating, but just being careful to drink a lot of tea, warm broths, vegies, and maybe a banana if I'm feeling too empty.
The great news is that the skin under my chin seems noticeably less fleshy, I not as poochy in the belly, and most wonderful of all is that my thumb, which is always splitting in the same spot, has healed completely!  Now that is truly cause for celebration.

As far as my eating days, I definitely consume lower quantities of food before I feel full. We went out to dinner and a glass of beer, a sandwich, and a small salad and I was so full I thought I'd burst!  I don't crave a second glass of wine nearly as much and my water intake has dramatically increased.

 So, after less than a month I feel like this has been a great experiment, and while it has become a breeze to go the entire day without eating, I haven't been listening to the audio very often either.  So I would give this a big thumbs up if you're interested in giving it a try.

Remember, you don't have to stop eating, you just reduce the number of calories and if you choose healthy produce, you can consume a lot before you hit the magic number.  The main thing I do is remember that evenings are the hardest, so I save most of my calories for after work, and by then I would have technically done a 24 hour fast anyway, so I'm not to strict with myself.

Sorry I went so long on this post, but since I'm documenting, I figure it's okay to run long.  That way you'll have a chance to see the progression and how it has played out thus far.

I hope you'll give these great products a try, you'll never find anything more powerful or effective, especially for the paltry amounts Tim charges for these tools.  Truly, if I am willing to pay for them, they must be affordable. :-)
